Elton Brown Signs with Maccabi Electra Tel Aviv

Former Hapoel Holon center Elton Brown has signed with Maccabi Electra Tel Aviv for the remainder of this season. He will be arriving in Israel tomorrow, and may play against Cibona Zagreb on Thursday.

American center Elton Brown (2.06 meters, 25), who aided his former team in defeating Maccabi and taking the Israeli championship, will be joining former teammate Tre Simmons in the Maccabi uniform, at least until the end of the current season.
Brown averaged 13.1 points in the Winner League, with 71 percent shooting from the field with only an average playing time of 16 minutes per game.
He also averaged 5.4 rebounds and 4.5 fouls per game.


Brown, who is a graduate of the University of Virginia, began his professional career with Makedonikos in Greece and led the league in that country with 10.5 rebounds per game.
He also played in the NBA Development League, posting excellent numbers while playing for Colorado: 20.4 points and 8.1 rebounds per game.


Brown, who resides in the U.S., will arrive in Israel tomorrow (Wednesday) morning.
Although he had the opportunity to start the season with the NBA D-League, Brown opted to wait for a better offer from Europe, or a call from the NBA.
It was the first option that became reality.
Since he has not played in Europe so far this season, he will be able to play in Thursday’s Euroleague game against Cibona Zagreb, should Maccabi head coach Pini Gershon elect to send him in.


Sharon Drucker will also be arriving in Israel, albeit a few hours earlier than Brown; he is expected to arrive tonight (Tuesday).
Tomorrow (Wednesday), the team will hold its final practice before Thursday’s game; followed by a press conference with both Pini Gershon and Sharon Drucker.
Elton Brown will also be introduced then.
