Scheyer Lands in Israel: “It’s an honor to be an Israeli citizen”

Maccabi Electra Tel Aviv’s new point guard is also a newly-minted Israeli citizen. “Jordan Farmar is a great player, and I can’t wait to work with him. We’ll have to take this season one day at a time and see what happens.”

Maccabi Electra Tel Aviv’s newest Israeli player, Jewish-American immigrant Jon Scheyer, completed the process of his aliyah (immigration to Israel) Tuesday after landing in Israel, and proudly displayed his new I.D. “It’s a great honor to come to Israel, and a wonderful opportunity. I can’t wait to show the coach what I can do, and to begin my life in Israel.”

Scheyer will have his first practice with the team tomorrow (Wednesday). “I’m excited to meet my teammates. I think they’ve built a good team with a lot experienced players. I’m hoping to play with them a lot and to just work hard. Jordan Farmar is a great player, and I can’t wait to work with him. We’ll just have to take this season one day at a time and see what happens.”
