Jordan Farmar approached the management of Maccabi FOX Tel Aviv and asked to be released from the team. The player wishes to to return to the United States and search for a place on an NBA team. Maccabi's management acquiesced to his request and wishes Jordan the best of luck in the future. Unfortunately, things did not work out with Jordan as everyone had hoped, but sometimes things happen that way in sports. Jordan will always be part of the Maccabi family.
Jordan:
"I would like to thank Maccabi for accepting my request to leave.
I always wanted to come back here and both Maccabi and I expected and hoped things will turn out differently once I do.
I realized that in the current situation, it would be better for both Maccabi and myself to part ways.
There is no one to blame for this situation. It's part of life and definitely part of basketball.
I'd like to thank the fans for their support and apologize that we have not stood up to their expectations in Euroleague. Maccabi's fans are known for their great support and I have no doubt they'll keep doing so.
I have complete trust in the coaching staff and my team mates that they have all it takes to bring Maccabi back to where it belongs and win all the titles they are still fighting for.
I have a lot of respect for the owners and management of Maccabi and I have no doubt in my mind they will do all that is needed to bring the club to a leading position in Euroleague next year.
I'll always stay a great supporter of Israel and a fan of Maccabi"
