Maccabi Tel Aviv Basketball Club is happy to announce that New Zealand International KIRK PENNEY has signed with the club for a two years period. The coaching stuff were impressed by him during the NVA Summer League.
Penney (Guard, 1.95) was born on 23/11/80 in Auckland, New Zealand and played there for the North Harbour Club. Later he played four seasons for the University of Wisconsin and played in the 2000 NCAA Final Four. In his final season at Wisconsin he had averages of 16.2 pts, 6 rbds & 3 assists.
In the 2003/04 season he played for Spanish Club Gran Canaria where he averaged 10.2 pts & 2.2 rbds. Last season he won the NBDL championship wuth Asheville Attitude. He has also played two games with Miami Heat & four games with L0os Angeles Clippers.
With the New Zealand National Team he took part in two Olympusc Games (Sydney 2000 & Athens 2004). He averaged 16.9 pts for the NZ team that won fourth place in the 2002 World Championship in Indianapolis.
