Maceo Baston will be the new player at the forward/center position for Maccabi Elite Tel Aviv. Baston signed today with the club for the 2003/04 and 2004/05 seasons.
Baston, a forward/center 2.06 m tall, was born on 29/05/75 in Corsicana, Texas. Graduate of the University of Michigan. Selected in the 1998 NBA Draft by Chicago Bulls (#58). Played two seasons for Quad city Thunders in the CBA alongside Anthony Parker. Was named best defensive player of the league.
Joined Italian Club SC Montecatini for the 2000/01 season where he averaged 20.3 pts, 8.5 rbds & 1.8 bsts.
Moved to Joventut Badalona in the Spanish League for the 2000/02 season and ended the season with averages of 15.9 pts, 6.6 rbds & 1.9 bsst.
Started the 2002/03 season with Joventut and played 9 games in the ULRB Cup where he averaged 16.1 pts, 6.7 rbds & 2.1 bsts.
In February 2003 moved to Toronto Raptors of the NBA as replacement to the imnjured Nate Huffman. Played 16 gamed with the following averages: 2.2 pts & 1.4 rbds. Lately played for the Raptors in the Summer League in Long Beach where he averaged 9.3 pts & 4.00 rbds.
