Richard Hendrix, who is in his second season with Maccabi Electra Tel Aviv, is a contender for the Euroleague Defensive Player of the Season award, it was announced today. Joining him on the list of candidates are Dimitris Diamantidis of Panathinaikos, Andrei Kirilenko and Viktor Khyrapa of CSKA Moscow, D’Or Fischer of Bilbao, Boniface Ndong of Barcelona, Jamon-Alfred Lucas of Galatasaray, and others.

Also announced were the names of the contenders for the Rising Star of the Season award, whichis open to players who are under the age of 23. One of the names on that list is Milan Mačvan, the Maccabi player who was loaned out this season to Partizan Belgrade. His biggest competition fort he award is Nikola Mirotic of Real Madrid. The winners will receive their prizes during the Final Fourfestivities in Istanbul.
