In keeping with tradition, Maccabi FOX Tel Aviv visited children hospitalized at Safra Pediatric Hospital in Tel Hashomer, showering them with gifts in celebration of the Purim holiday. Contributors to the gift baskets were: the club's main sponsor, FOX, which donated shirts from their Maccabi Tel Aviv collection, Marchello Enchilini who purchased candy from AKIM Givatayim - members of that organization packed the baskets, and Wrigley, which also donated many of their candy products to the children.
In the framework of the cooperation between the basketball team and the Shlomit Foundation, the young men and women doing national community service work with the foundation accompanied the players on the visit. The service members of Shlomit do challenging work in the hospital throughout the year, and assist the medical staff with various tasks.
In addition, young people from the Ayanot Youth Village also helped to distribute the gift baskets. The Ayanot Youth Village and Maccabi are partners in the Euroleague's ONE TEAM project.
Team captain Guy Pnini said of the visit: "The most important thing is that it should be a happy holiday, and we're here to bring cheer to these kids. For us, this is the most fun and important thing in the world. So long as we keep doing this, good things will happen."
Brian Randle added: "We need to keep things in the proper perspective. Days like this remind you what's truly important. As a father, to come here and see these kids touches me in a special place in my heart."
