Maccabi extended Othello Hunter's contract

Maccabi FOX Tel Aviv signed Othello Hunter (33) for next season with an option to extend for another year. The contract of the experienced center, which proved himself sporting-wize, mental-wize and social-wize and was signed for the current season with an option for another year, was therefore extended at least until the summer of 2021.

"I am very grateful to be wearing the Maccabi jersey for another season", said Othello Hunter to maccabi.co.il. "If you know me at all then you would know that all I want to do is win and I want to do that with Maccabi. I would like to thank coach for wanting me on his team in the first place. I’m very thankful to the management, owners and the Maccabi fans for welcoming me and my family with open arms. The journey continues, Yalla Maccabi".

"This is another important step on the part of the management and owners", coach Giannis Sfairopoulos said in response to maccabi.co.il. "I am delighted that we have extended Othello's contract because he is a very important player for our roster and for our goals. He is already giving maximum effort to the team and we We want to keep his effort & winning mentality to the road ahead. I'm glad we're continuing together".



Othello Hunter was signed, as we recall, in the summer as a center alongside Tarik Black. The other's injury allowed the veteran fighter to take a step forward and he proves his worth every time. Hunter has taken part in 20 of the 21 Euroleague games so far. He is ranked second in the team in points per game (10.2), second in the PIR (14.4) and leading Maccabi rebounds per game in the European comptetion (6.5).

In the local league Othello Hunter played in 11 of 17 games, 10 of which Maccabi won. He averaged 11.6 points in 68.4% of the field, 6.6 rebounds and 16 index points in 21.5 minutes per evening. The dominant center also records 2.3 in-game dunks and leads the league in that ranking.
