Maccabi Fox Tel Aviv return to their winning ways in the EuroLeague beating Khimki Moscow 80:77 to improve their record to 15:8. In Scottie Wilbekin's absence, Elijah Bryant came through leading all scorers with a EuroLeague high 21 points, Tyler Dorsey added 12 and Deni Avdija finished the game with 11 points, 9 rebounds, and 4 assists. The Yellow & Blue don't have much time to rest as they'll head out on the road to face Fenerbahce on Friday night.
"I want to congratulate the players. Before the game, I said we could win, I believed in the players and tonight they gave their hearts out", Said head coach Giannis Sfairopoulos after the win. "This is the most important win so far, we tried to get back to our winning ways and not to give up one more game on our home court".
"With our injury condition, the players gave their maximum. We showed character, we fought with our nails and teeth, and that's why I congratulated the players", Added Sfairopoulos about the fighting spirit his players showed tonight. "I want to thank our fans for their support, they deserve credit to this win, helping us with their voice and pushing the players".
"I love how we played in the second half. To receive 47 points in one half and 30 in the second, this is a big issue", Explained coach. "Of course, after the good defense, we also found a rhythm on offense, scoring some easy transition points. It was a derby until the end, but the most important thing is that we fought, and we deserved to win this game".
"I've been putting extra work throughout the week. I played terrible last game, and it was a testament to keep on working hard and our coach's belief in the players", Told Elijah Bryant after the tough home win. "It was fun, You miss some shots, make some, but you trust the work you put in, and I trust my process. We have another game to win on Friday, we'll enjoy this one, but we have to stay focused."
"We knew that if we wanted to win the game, we had to play harder on the defensive end, and that's what we did in the second half", Explained Deni Avdija. "Everybody gave their 120 percent to get this win. I'm a young player, and I think as time develops, I'm progressing more and more. To play with these teammates is a big honor, to have all of this experience and toughness around me is just an amazing environment."
