Maccabi Playtika Tel Aviv has signed Max Heidegger (23, 1.91 m), a Jewish-American guard who has starred for the last four years in the uniform of Santa Barbara College, for the next three years. In the ranks of the California college team, which plays in the NCAA division 1, he was selected last year to the top five of the "Big West".
Heidegger started the season well with 19.9 points per game, overcame an ankle injury and finished the year as Santa Barbara's leading scorer with 16 points per game, 3.2 assists and 2.4 rebounds. Also in his second season in college he finished among the best players of the "Big West" with 19.1 points, 2.5 rebounds, 2.5 assists and 40.4% beyond the arc.
"Maccabi continues to invest in young players with great potential to play at the highest levels. Therefore, we are very happy to have Max Heidegger with the Maccabi family", stated coach Giannis Sfairopoulos. "He is a talented player with potential and we are investing in him also because of his shooting ability. This is a great opportunity for him to learn European basketball and start competing at the highest level".

"I am excited to join a team with such a tradition of victories and titles alongside a winning culture", Max Heidegger told the club's official website after the signing. "It's the most decorated club in history with over a hundred titles. This is great, I want to join the tradition that already exists there and continue the tradition that Maccabi has already established. I am excited to start, get to Tel Aviv and try to contribute".
Heidegger is known as a very energetic player with great confidence in his shot, one who can emmerge behind the pick or create of the move. He reads the opponent's passing lines well, knows how to find his teammates and is not afraid to drive to the basket even in front of physically larger opponents. He has a great range beyond the arc and he is not afraid to throw even with a guards' hand in his face.
