Maccabi Elite Tel Aviv recorded its second win in the Euroleague, 85-81 vs Krka Novo Mesto in a game played in Slovenia. This was Maccabi’s first win in Novo Mesto after two losses.
The Sloveninans had already a 41-26 lead with three minutes to go to half time. But a 8-0 run by Maccabi made it 41-34 at the half.
The third period opened with a 9-2 run by Maccabi and they took their first lead at 48-46. Two consecutive three pointers by Derrick Sharp made it 51-46. Maccabi won the third quarter 28-16 and led 62-57. They increased their lead to 70-60. But then the home team recovered with some incredible three pointers (12-21 from the perimeter). They reduced the margin to 72-70 and evened the score to 80-80 with 1.07 min to go. A great steal by Tal Burstein and he was fouled. He made only one free throw but Gur Shelef grabbed the offensive rebound. Anthony Parker was sent to the line and made the two points. Jasikevicius added two more and assured Maccabi's victory.
Maccabi's MVP was Deon Thomas with 12 pts, 10 rbds and one great blocked shot. Parker was top scorer with 19 & 4 rbds.
