Maccabi Electra Tel Aviv flew to Croatia<\/st1:place><\/st1:country-region> today (Tuesday) in preparation for Thursday evening\u2019s (18:30<\/st1:time>) Euroleague Group A opener against Cibona Zagreb.
<\/SPAN>The team\u2019s Chairman of the Board, Shimon Mizrahi, who watched Tau Ceramica\u2019s 80 \u2013 70 victory over Fenerbahce Ulker in Monday\u2019s festive season opener, will join the team in Zagreb<\/st1:place><\/st1:City>.<\/o:p><\/FONT><\/SPAN><\/P>


<\/FONT><\/o:p><\/SPAN><\/P>

Maccabi\u2019s newest player, guard Marcus Brown<\/B>, took part in his first team practice today and is ready for the team\u2019s first challenge on Thursday.
<\/SPAN>\u201cI\u2019m excited, and I believe the other players are, too.
<\/SPAN>It\u2019s hard to say what needs to be improved after just one practice, but this is a great group of guys.
<\/SPAN>We\u2019ll work hard on defense and offense; we\u2019ve got great players, and it won\u2019t be a problem.
<\/SPAN>Anyway, you don\u2019t take the championship at the start of the season; it\u2019s more important how you finish it.\u201d<\/o:p><\/FONT><\/SPAN><\/P>

Head coach Efy Birenboim <\/B>had this to say about his first game coaching in the Euroleague: \u201cWe still need to get ready for this game.
<\/SPAN>We\u2019re traveling early enough to be able to do that.
<\/SPAN>We really hope to get off on the right foot; we\u2019ll make every effort, and we know everyone is with us.
<\/SPAN>A victory doesn\u2019t erase anything, it just brings happiness.\u201d<\/o:p><\/FONT><\/SPAN><\/P>


<\/FONT><\/o:p><\/SPAN><\/P>

Just before take off, Carlos Arroyo <\/B>said:
<\/SPAN>\u201cWe played today with Marcus Brown; he\u2019s a great player and I expect to play a lot with him this season.
<\/SPAN>I believe that the chemistry among all of our players will be amazing.
<\/SPAN>We\u2019re going to work hard to come together as a team as quickly as possible.\u201d
<\/SPAN>About the upcoming game in Zagreb<\/st1:place><\/st1:City>, Arroyo said, \u201cWe\u2019ve watched a video of Cibona; we are going to give every team in the Euroleague the respect it deserves.
<\/SPAN>We\u2019re going to put up a fight in every game.
<\/SPAN>I\u2019m very excited about our first Euroleague game, and I\u2019m excited that the season has started.
<\/SPAN>I want to play league games, not \u201cfriendly\u201d games.
