Will Join Tonight\u2019s Practice"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><P><FONT face=Arial size=2>By Amy Samin<\/FONT><br \/><BR><\/P> <P><FONT face=Arial size=2>Maccabi Electra Tel Aviv\u2019s new forward, Elton Brown, arrived in Israel just before dawn today (Wednesday).<br \/> Said Brown, \u201cI\u2019m happy to be here, in spite of the long flight.<br \/> I can\u2019t wait for the first practice.<br \/> It\u2019s an honor to be the first player Pini Gershon has brought to the team this time around.<br \/> I haven\u2019t talked with him yet, but we\u2019ll talk soon.<br \/> Maccabi is a team with a long tradition, and it\u2019s an honor to be part of the team.<br \/> I hope I can continue that tradition.<br \/> When I went to play with Holon, I had a similar goal: to win the Israeli championship.<br \/> Now I have an additional goal: to take the Euroleague.<br \/> The Israeli league is tough and competitive, with a lot of good teams.\u201d<br \/> When asked about the pressure on the club, Brown replied, \u201cI don\u2019t have anything to say about that.<br \/> I\u2019m going to try and do what I know best: win basketball games.\u201d<\/FONT><br \/><BR><\/P> <P><FONT face=Arial size=2>Sharon Drucker, Maccabi\u2019s new assistant coach, who will be working under Pini Gershon, arrived even earlier this morning. \u201cPini and I will do the maximum to make the team a better one,\u201d said Drucker upon landing at Ben Gurion Airport.<br \/> \u201cPini has already gotten started on that, and now I will join in and help him.<br \/> In any event, Gershon\u2019s the boss.<br \/> There are two reasons I\u2019m here now.<br \/> The first one is Pini Gershon.<br \/> If it weren\u2019t for him, I don\u2019t know if I\u2019d be here.<br \/> Working with him is a real opportunity for growth.<br \/> The second reason I\u2019m here is, of course, Maccabi Tel Aviv.<br \/> Being assistant coach for Maccabi is even better than being head coach for another team in Europe.<br \/> When you can say you\u2019re been with Maccabi, it means something, no matter what league you coach in.<br \/> It\u2019s a step up.\u201d<\/FONT><br \/><BR><\/P> <P><FONT face=Arial size=2>Drucker had this to say about Elton Brown: \u201cHe is a player who will help Maccabi under the system that Pini uses.<br \/> Pini needs a player in the paint.<br \/> Elton lives in the paint;
