\u201cIt\u2019s a team sport, and even if one player scores 80 points and all the rest 10, it\u2019s still a team sport,\u201d said Maccabi Electra Tel Aviv head coach Pini Gershon<\/B> after Thursday night\u2019s 87 \u2013 73 victory over Le Mans in France.
<\/SPAN>The victory assures that Maccabi will play in the Top 16.
<\/SPAN>\u201cWe won, and that\u2019s very important.
<\/SPAN>I understand that Malaga<\/st1:place><\/st1:City> was down for most of their game, and that relieved a little pressure here,\u201d said Gershon, who added, \u201cI see the weaknesses, not the positive things.
<\/SPAN>Yes, we\u2019ve reached one goal: we made the Top 16.
<\/SPAN>But we still need to strengthen and improve the team.\u201d<\/o:p><\/SPAN><\/P>


<\/o:p><\/SPAN><\/P>

Omri Casspi<\/SPAN><\/B> said, \u201cI started the game well, and I felt confident on the court.
<\/SPAN>We made a lot of fast breaks, we made a lot of easy baskets, and when everyone gets a hand on the ball, that\u2019s good.
<\/SPAN>On Monday we have an Israeli Cup game that we have to win, that\u2019s probably the most important thing now.
<\/SPAN>After we win, we\u2019ll go to the break with a good feeling.
<\/SPAN>The Israeli players have been given opportunities, and they\u2019ve proven their worth on the court.
<\/SPAN>All the players on Maccabi are top level, and whoever has confidence plays well,\u201d concluded the forward.<\/o:p><\/SPAN><\/P>


<\/o:p><\/SPAN><\/P>

Lior Eliyahu<\/SPAN><\/B> said, \u201cEvery player, without exception, made a contribution to this victory.
<\/SPAN>Arroyo and Marcus Brown were outstanding, Green put in good minutes on defense, and Casspi had a great game.
<\/SPAN>I have fun playing with Carlos.
<\/SPAN>The more we learn Pini\u2019s methods, the cooperation will grow, not just between me and him but for everyone; and we\u2019ll play more and more together as a unit.\u201d<\/o:p><\/SPAN><\/P>


<\/o:p><\/SPAN><\/P>

\u201cFischer didn\u2019t play and we felt his absence even though we won.
<\/SPAN>I\u2019m happy that his injury isn\u2019t as serious as we first thought, and that he\u2019ll be back playing with us soon.
<\/SPAN>I always try to do my utmost for the team.
<\/SPAN>Pini supports me and gives me minutes, and I\u2019m happy that I can be effective.
<\/SPAN>I hope that continues.
<\/SPAN>On Monday we have an important game against Nahariya, even more important than this one, and I hope we\u2019ll continue to win.\u201d<\/o:p><\/SPAN><\/P>


<\/o:p><\/SPAN><\/P>

Maccabi\u2019s assistant coach, Sharon Drucker, said, \u201cWe played good defense.
<\/SPAN>In the first quarter they took some rebounds on offense but we put a stop to that.
<\/SPAN>When they missed shots, we punished them at the other end.
<\/SPAN>It wasn\u2019t an easy game, because they wanted to win and we came to this game after a loss, but we beat them convincingly.\u201d<\/o:p><\/SPAN><\/P>


<\/o:p><\/SPAN><\/P>

\u201cIn preparing for this game, we talked about getting a lot of players involved, and we moved the ball well even when we were tired,\u201d added Drucker.
<\/SPAN>\u201cWe\u2019re coming away with the feeling that there\u2019s still a lot of work to do, but the players understand the system better.
<\/SPAN>It\u2019s not easy to play four straight away games, and we have a tough game coming up in Nahariya.
<\/SPAN>We\u2019ve made the Top 16 and that\u2019s a great feeling; of course, we\u2019ll want to improve our standing.\u201d<\/o:p><\/SPAN><\/P>
