{"id":28331,"date":"2008-12-20T12:00:00","date_gmt":"2008-12-20T10:00:00","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/localhost:8080\/maccabi-electra-tel-aviv-releases-esteban-batista\/"},"modified":"2026-04-26T08:26:10","modified_gmt":"2026-04-26T05:26:10","slug":"maccabi-electra-tel-aviv-releases-esteban-batista","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/maccabi.co.il\/en\/maccabi-electra-tel-aviv-releases-esteban-batista\/","title":{"rendered":"Maccabi Electra Tel Aviv Releases Esteban Batista"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><P><FONT face=Arial size=2>By Amy Samin<\/FONT><br \/><BR><\/P> <P><FONT face=Arial size=2>Esteban Batista, Maccabi Electra Tel Aviv\u2019s center for the last year and a half, has been released from the team.<br \/> In his time with the team, he reached the finals of the Euroleague Championship (last season).<br \/> Batista was expected to leave Israel on Saturday, and it is thought he will play for a team in Russia.<br \/> This season, Batista contributed an average 3.6 points in Euroleague games and 2.6 rebounds in five games.<\/FONT><br \/><BR><\/P> <P><FONT face=Arial size=2>Maccabi returned to Israel from France on Friday after Thursday night\u2019s important victory over Le Mans in Week 8 of Euroleague play.<br \/> The team is preparing for Monday night\u2019s game against Nahariya in Ein Sarah.<br \/> The game starts at 18:30 and will be broadcast live on Channel 1.<br \/> After that game, the team will be on break until 4 January 2009, when the quarter final games of the Israeli Cup will take place (assuming Maccabi wins on Monday night and advances to that level).<br \/> Four days later, Maccabi will host Olympiacos (including former Maccabi teammates Yotam Halperin and Nikola Vujcic) in Week 9 of the Euroleague season.<\/FONT><br \/><BR><\/P> <P><A href=\"mailto:samintranslations@yahoo.com\" target=_blank><FONT face=Arial color=#0000ff size=2><U>samintranslations@yahoo.com<\/U><\/FONT><\/A><FONT face=Arial size=2> <\/FONT><br \/><BR><br \/><BR><br \/><BR><br \/><\/P><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The center, who played for Maccabi for a season and a half, was released Saturday from the team.
