mso-bidi-language: HE\">Maccabi Electra Tel Aviv signed the forward\/center (age 27, 2.03 meters) in a contract good for the remainder of the season.<SPAN style=\"mso-spacerun: yes\"><br \/> <\/SPAN>Gaines will wear Maccabi jersey #4, and the also newly-signed Dee Brown will wear #12.<o:p><\/o:p><\/SPAN><\/P> <P class=MsoNormal style=\"MARGIN: 0cm 0cm 0pt\"><SPAN style=\"FONT-FAMILY: 'Arial','sans-serif'; mso-ansi-language: EN-US; mso-bidi-language: HE\"><o:p><br \/><\/o:p><\/SPAN><\/P> <P class=MsoNormal style=\"MARGIN: 0cm 0cm 0pt\"><SPAN style=\"FONT-FAMILY: 'Arial','sans-serif'; mso-ansi-language: EN-US; mso-bidi-language: HE\">Gaines is an athlete with imposing jumping skills, excellent rebounding ability, great on the open court, and with impressive shooting numbers.<SPAN style=\"mso-spacerun: yes\"><br \/> <\/SPAN>Gains spent last summer in the San Antonio Spurs training camp, and this season played in the NBA Development League team, the Austin Toros, where he racked up some notable numbers: 14.9 points and 10.3 rebounds per game (he played in 23 games since the end of November).<o:p><\/o:p><\/SPAN><\/P> <P class=MsoNormal style=\"MARGIN: 0cm 0cm 0pt\"><SPAN style=\"FONT-FAMILY: 'Arial','sans-serif'; mso-ansi-language: EN-US; mso-bidi-language: HE\"><o:p><br \/><\/o:p><\/SPAN><\/P> <P class=MsoNormal style=\"MARGIN: 0cm 0cm 0pt\"><SPAN style=\"FONT-FAMILY: 'Arial','sans-serif'; mso-ansi-language: EN-US; mso-bidi-language: HE\">Gaines is a graduate of the <?xml:namespace prefix = st1 ns = \"urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:smarttags\" \/><st1:place w:st=\"on\"><st1:PlaceType w:st=\"on\">University<\/st1:PlaceType> of <st1:PlaceName w:st=\"on\">Southern Mississippi<\/st1:PlaceName><\/st1:place>.<SPAN style=\"mso-spacerun: yes\"><br \/> <\/SPAN>He began his European career with the Italian team Reggio Calabria.<SPAN style=\"mso-spacerun: yes\"><br \/> <\/SPAN>He signed for the 2005\/2006 season with French team Villerban, where he contributed an average of 13.6 points and 8.1 rebounds per game and was with the team when they played in the ULEB Cup Quarterfinals.<o:p><\/o:p><\/SPAN><\/P> <P class=MsoNormal style=\"MARGIN: 0cm 0cm 0pt\"><SPAN style=\"FONT-FAMILY: 'Arial','sans-serif'; mso-ansi-language: EN-US; mso-bidi-language: HE\"><o:p><br \/><\/o:p><\/SPAN><\/P> <P class=MsoNormal style=\"MARGIN: 0cm 0cm 0pt\"><SPAN style=\"FONT-FAMILY: 'Arial','sans-serif'; mso-ansi-language: EN-US; mso-bidi-language: HE\">In 2006\/2007 Gaines played for DKV Joventut Badalona of <st1:country-region w:st=\"on\"><st1:place w:st=\"on\">Spain<\/st1:place><\/st1:country-region> in the Euroleague, where he met up with Maccabi Tel Aviv for the first time.<SPAN style=\"mso-spacerun: yes\"><br \/> <\/SPAN>His averages in Euroleague games were 10.3 points and 6.3 rebounds, and in Spanish league games 11.1 points and 7.8 rebounds.<SPAN style=\"mso-spacerun: yes\"><br \/> <\/SPAN>With <st1:City w:st=\"on\"><st1:place w:st=\"on\">Badalona<\/st1:place><\/st1:City>, Gaines reached the semi-finals in the Spanish League.<o:p><\/o:p><\/SPAN><\/P> <P class=MsoNormal style=\"MARGIN: 0cm 0cm 0pt\"><SPAN style=\"FONT-FAMILY: 'Arial','sans-serif'; mso-ansi-language: EN-US; mso-bidi-language: HE\"><o:p><br \/><\/o:p><\/SPAN><\/P> <P class=MsoNormal style=\"MARGIN: 0cm 0cm 0pt\"><SPAN style=\"FONT-FAMILY: 'Arial','sans-serif'; mso-ansi-language: EN-US; mso-bidi-language: HE\">Last season (2007\/2008) Gaines played for the Turkish team <\/SPAN><SPAN class=t13><SPAN lang=EN-GB style=\"FONT-FAMILY: 'Arial','sans-serif'\">Galatasaray, together with Daniel \u201cDee\u201d Brown who recently signed with Maccabi Electra Tel Aviv as well.<SPAN style=\"mso-spacerun: yes\"><br \/> <\/SPAN>In the Turkish League, Gaines posted averages of 13.2 points and 8.1 rebounds, and in ULEB Cup games 12.4 points and 7.3 rebounds.<SPAN style=\"mso-spacerun: yes\"><br \/> <\/SPAN>That season, Gaines and Galatasaray reached the semi-finals in the ULEB Cup.<\/SPAN><\/SPAN><SPAN style=\"FONT-FAMILY: 'Arial','sans-serif';
