{"id":29930,"date":"2010-09-05T12:00:00","date_gmt":"2010-09-05T09:00:00","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/localhost:8080\/maccabi-to-attend-training-camps-in-poland-and-russia\/"},"modified":"2026-04-26T08:35:07","modified_gmt":"2026-04-26T05:35:07","slug":"maccabi-to-attend-training-camps-in-poland-and-russia","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/maccabi.co.il\/en\/maccabi-to-attend-training-camps-in-poland-and-russia\/","title":{"rendered":"Maccabi to Attend Training Camps in Poland and Russia"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><P><FONT size=2 face=Arial>By Amy Samin<br \/><\/FONT><\/P> <P><FONT size=2 face=Arial>Maccabi Electra Tel Aviv will leave Israel on September 16<SUP>th<\/SUP> for pre-season training camps and tournaments in Russia and Poland.<br \/> The team will return to Israel on September 27<SUP>th<\/SUP>.<\/FONT><br \/><BR><FONT size=2 face=Arial><BR>Participants in the first tournament, which will take place in Wroc\u0142aw, Poland on September 19 \u2013 20, include Maccabi Electra Tel Aviv, Rytas Vilna (the Lithuanian champions), Asseco Prokom Gdynia of Poland, and Turow of Poland.<br \/> Prokom Gdynia was placed in the same Euroleague group as Maccabi this season (2010 \u2013 2011).<br \/> In the semi-final of the tournament on September 19<SUP>th<\/SUP>, Maccabi will face Turow; the following day the final and the game for third place will be held.<\/FONT><br \/><BR><FONT size=2 face=Arial><BR>On September 23<SUP>rd<\/SUP> Maccabi will fly to Russia to take part in the traditional tournament named for Kondrashin and Belov, in Saint Petersburg (September 25 \u2013 26). Also participating are CSKA Moscow, Efes Pilsen, and hosts Spartak St. Petersburg, which is coached by Zvika Sherf, who served as head coach at Maccabi Tel Aviv for eleven seasons.<\/FONT><br \/><BR><FONT size=2 face=Arial><BR>In the Russian tournament, Maccabi could face one of two former players from last season, Stephane Lasme (St. Petersburg) and Andrew Wisniewski (Efes Pilsen).<br \/> In the semi-final on September 25<SUP>th<\/SUP>, Maccabi will play CSKA Moscow; the final and the game for third place will take place the next day.<\/FONT><br \/><\/P> <P><A href=\"mailto:samintranslations@yahoo.com\" target=_blank><FONT color=#0000ff size=2 face=Arial><U>samintranslations@yahoo.com<\/U><\/FONT><\/A><FONT size=2 face=Arial> <\/FONT><br \/><\/P><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>On September 16th, Maccabi Electra Tel Aviv will leave for Europe to participate in training camps and tournaments in Poland and Russia.
