{"id":30318,"date":"2010-12-07T12:00:00","date_gmt":"2010-12-07T10:00:00","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/localhost:8080\/maccabi-visits-at-schneider-hospital-blatt-its-a-sort-of-mission\/"},"modified":"2026-04-26T08:36:18","modified_gmt":"2026-04-26T05:36:18","slug":"maccabi-visits-at-schneider-hospital-blatt-its-a-sort-of-mission","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/maccabi.co.il\/en\/maccabi-visits-at-schneider-hospital-blatt-its-a-sort-of-mission\/","title":{"rendered":"Maccabi Visits at Schneider Hospital; Blatt: \u201cIt\u2019s a sort of mission.\u201d"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><P><FONT size=2 face=Arial>By Amy Samin<\/FONT><BR><BR><\/P> <P><FONT size=2 face=Arial>Maccabi Electra Tel Aviv paid their traditional Chanukah visit to Schneider Children\u2019s Hospital in Petach Tikvah.<BR>All of the players, accompanied by the professional staff, went room by room in the various departments to visit and bring cheer to the young patients, along with notebooks, pens, key chains and wall clocks from the club\u2019s official team store.<BR>They also handed out snacks provided by one of the team\u2019s sponsors, Bagel Bagel.<BR>Another of the sponsors, Philips, donated a 32\u201d LCD television to the hospital.<\/FONT><\/P> <P align=center><EMBED height=344 type=application\/x-shockwave-flash width=425 src=https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/v\/pDpZ4-fgXWk?hl=iw&#038;fs=1 allowscriptaccess=\"always\" allowfullscreen=\"true\"><\/EMBED><\/P> <P><FONT size=2 face=Arial>Head coach <B>David Blatt<\/B> said during the visit, \u201cWe feel like we\u2019re on a sort of mission.<BR>Every day we\u2019re focused primarily on basketball, and during Chanukah and our visits to places like this, the most important thing is to bring happiness to the children and, for a little while, to get out of our daily routine of hard work on the basketball court.<BR>I\u2019m glad we came here today; it\u2019s been fun to see my players enjoying themselves, giving of themselves and focusing their attention on the children.<BR>I hope we\u2019ve made everyone happy.\u201d<\/FONT><\/P> <P align=center><IMG border=1 hspace=0 alt=\"\" align=baseline src=\"https:\/\/www.maccabi.co.il\/mtpic\/2010-11\/articles\/shnaider.jpg\"><\/P> <P><FONT size=2 face=Arial><B>Guy Pnini<\/B> added, \u201cIt\u2019s heartwarming, and really puts things into proportion; if we\u2019re upset after losing a game, for example, it puts things into perspective, because here it\u2019s real life.<BR>I just hope that we were able to cheer them up and make them happy for a while, since they can\u2019t celebrate Chanukah outside of the hospital.<BR>If we did that then we reached our goal, and we\u2019re happy to come here every year; we should even visit more.\u201d<\/FONT><\/P> <P align=center><IMG border=1 hspace=0 alt=\"\" align=baseline src=\"https:\/\/www.maccabi.co.il\/mtpic\/s2010b.jpg\"><\/P> <P align=left><FONT size=2 face=Arial><B>Jeremy Pargo <\/B>concluded, \u201cIt\u2019s a mixed feeling.<BR>On the one hand, it\u2019s hard to see how tough things are for these kids and where they\u2019re spending their holiday, and on the other hand we cheered them up a little and that\u2019s the most important thing.<BR>I\u2019m not sure everybody knew who we all were, because there were some really little kids in there, but we feel like we came here for an important purpose and we accomplished it.<BR>It\u2019s a good feeling to give of ourselves.\u201d<\/FONT><BR><\/P> <P align=center><IMG border=1 hspace=0 alt=\"\" align=baseline src=\"https:\/\/img337.imageshack.us\/img337\/6379\/resizeof201012072001132.jpg\"><BR><\/P> <P><A href=\"https:\/\/www.samintranslations.com\/\" target=_blank><FONT color=#0000ff size=2 face=Arial><U>www.samintranslations.com<\/U><\/FONT><\/A><FONT size=2 face=Arial> <\/FONT><\/P><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The players and professional staff of Maccabi Electra Tel Aviv paid their traditional Chanukah visit to Schneider Children\u2019s Hospital in Petach Tikvah.
