Joe Ingles led Maccabi&rsquo;s scorers with 22 points and 11 assists, Devin Smith contributed 21 points and 7 rebounds, Jake Cohen added 13 points, 7 boards and 6 assists, and Sofo scored 11 points. For the first time, all three of Maccabi&rsquo;s coaches were on the sidelines: head coach David Blatt, assistant Guy Goodes (recently returned from the 2013 EuroBasket competition), and newly-minted second assistant coach Alon Stein. Shawn James twisted his ankle at the start of the second half and did not return to the game. His injury is not serious, and he will have the next few days to rest.<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\" style=\"color: rgb(0, 0, 0); font-family: 'Times New Roman'; font-size: medium;\"> \tAlex Tyus, Yuval Naimy, Guy Pnini and Yogev Ohayon, all of whom were away with the Israeli National Team until recently came to the game to observe the new plays and support their teammates. Starting next week they will take part in team practices, as will Ricky Hickman and Tyrese Rice, both of whom are expected to arrive in Israel on Monday.<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\" style=\"color: rgb(0, 0, 0); font-family: 'Times New Roman'; font-size: medium; text-align: center;\"> \t<iframe loading=\"lazy\" allowfullscreen=\"\" frameborder=\"0\" height=\"330\" src=\"\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/EP_P4SKz9oI\" width=\"425\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\" style=\"color: rgb(0, 0, 0); font-family: 'Times New Roman'; font-size: medium;\"> \tBlatt&rsquo;s starting five was comprised of Devin Smith, Joe Ingles, Arad Harari, Jake Cohen and Sofo Schortsanitis. The game got off to a close start, with Harari and Smith leading the way on offense for Maccabi. Sofo supplied points in the paint, then was replaced by Shawn James who gave Maccabi their first lead, 18-17 halfway through the quarter. Ben Altit, who subbed into the game for Cohen, delivered a beautiful dunk off a great assist by Ingles. Rishon Lezion and Hopkins didn&rsquo;t miss a shot in the closing minutes of the period, which ended with Maccabi down 28-24.<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\" style=\"color: rgb(0, 0, 0); font-family: 'Times New Roman'; font-size: medium;\"> \tRishon continued to play well in the early minutes of the second quarter, taking a 31-24 lead until an offensive rebound by Smith and three from the foul line by Ingles put an end to their run. Maccabi Electra couldn&rsquo;t put the stops on Hopkins, who scored from all over the court, until five straight points from Ingles closed the gap to 43-41 with three and a half minutes left in the half. James, with a huge block and points in the paint, and Ingles with points from downtown, put Maccabi up 46-43 within a minute&rsquo;s time. Rishon went on another scoring run, but Sofo and James responded, giving Maccabi a 52-50 lead going into the break.<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\" style=\"color: rgb(0, 0, 0); font-family: 'Times New Roman'; font-size: medium; text-align: center;\">\n<p dir=\"ltr\" style=\"color: rgb(0, 0, 0); font-family: 'Times New Roman'; font-size: medium;\"> \tMaccabi Electra opened strong in the second half, with points from James and Smith, but yet another three pointer by Hopkins cut the lead to three. James landed badly, hurting his ankle, and sat out the rest of the game. A second trey by Ingles and points from Harari set the score at 63-55 at the midway point in the period. Former Maccabi player Dror Hagag and Hopkins scored for Rishon, each adding a three and 1, and giving them back the lead. A huge three pointer by Ingles gave Maccabi Electra a 75-74 lead going into the final period.<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\" style=\"color: rgb(0, 0, 0); font-family: 'Times New Roman'; font-size: medium;\"> \tThe fourth quarter saw Rishon reclaiming the lead off more points from outside the arc, but Cohen&rsquo;s triple and a nice drive to the basket and 1 by Altit put Maccabi back on top, 82-80. Hopkins (who else?) drew another foul from downtown, making it 86-82 Rishon halfway through the period. Cohen continued to show strong ability both from outside the arc and in the paint, and together with Ingles took Maccabi to 94-87 with three minutes left in the game.
