The club, together with Maccabi World Union and the Friends of the IDF (FIDF) invited 16 IDF reservists who had been wounded in Operation Protective Edge to the game in Cleveland, and held the event in their honor. The soldiers were greeted by a standing ovation from the 200+ in attendance. <\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\"> \t<span style=\"font-size:14px;\"><span id=\"docs-internal-guid-6ebc22ff-e4d9-b8fc-c40d-dc3d3d94c6c7\">The most touching moment came when Noam Gershoni \u2013 an Apache pilot critically wounded in the second Lebanon War who made an amazing recovery and went on to win a gold medal in tennis in the 2012 Paralympic Games in London \u2013 addressed the gathering. Gershoni touched everyone present, and they responded with a standing ovation that lasted for several minutes.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\"> \t<span style=\"font-size:14px;\"><span id=\"docs-internal-guid-6ebc22ff-e4d9-b8fc-c40d-dc3d3d94c6c7\">Another honored guest was Anthony Parker, a legendary player for both Maccabi and Cleveland. Maccabi was represented by chairman Shimon Mizrahi and the rest of the management, as well as by five of the greatest ever to play for the club: Tal Brody, Mickey Berkowitz, Doron Jamchy, Nikola Vuj?i? and Parker.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<div> \t\u00a0<\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Maccabi Electra Tel Aviv, Maccabi USA, the Maccabi World Union, and the Friends of the IDF organization invited 16 IDF reservists who had been wounded in Operation Protective Edge to the game in Cleveland, and held a special reception in their honor.
