The heads of the Euroleague invited the representatives of the teams and the leagues in order to present them with additional details about new systems of the two leagues \u2013 Euroleague and Eurocup \u2013 and to share with them the new vision of the Euroleague in cooperation with media giant IMG, which will include 40 of the top teams in Europe. The structure that was presented still needs to receive the final approval of the board of directors of the Euroleague.<\/p>\n<p> \tNext season (2016-17), the Euroleague will include 16 teams; 11 teams that currently hold an A License: Maccabi Tel Aviv (Israel), Barcelona, Real Madrid, and Caja Laboral (Spain), CSKA Moscow (Russia), Olympiacos and Panathinaikos (Greece), Anadolu Efes and Fenerbahce\u00a0 (Turkey), Zalgiris Kaunas ( Lithuania), and Armani Milan (Italy).<br \/> \tAccording to the agreement that was reached, the five additional spots will be given to representatives from the Adriatic League, the VTB League, the German League, and the reigning Eurocup Champion, along with one wild card position. There will be no qualifying games. Starting with the following season (2017-18), there will be no wild card team, and that place will go to a team from the Spanish League. In addition, in the future it is possible that the Euroleague will expand from 16 teams.<\/p>\n<p> \tStarting next season, the Eurocup will be made up of 24 teams. Four leagues &#8211; the Adriatic League, the VTB League, the Spanish League, and the German League \u2013 would each have at least three teams in the league. This agreement will be valid for four years. The remaining teams will be determined in accordance with direct agreements between the Eurocup and teams from France, Greece, Italy, Lithuania, and Turkey, among others. Teams invited to participate in the Eurocup will be those that are known to be stable and strong in terms of their achievements in both sports and business.<\/p>\n<p> \tThe teams present at the special meeting in Barcelona earlier this week were: Limoges and Strasbourg (France), Khimki Moscow (Russia), Malaga, Valencia, and Gran Canaria (Spain), Red Star and Partizan Belgrade (Serbia), Alba Berlin, Bayern Munich, and Bamberg (Germany), Aris Thessaloniki (Greece), Sassari, Reggio Emilia\u00a0 and Trento (Italy), Rytas Vilnius and Neptunas (Lithuania), Besiktas and Galatasaray (Turkey), Cedevita Zagreb (Croatia).
