\tCompliments for a close game did not really help anyone in Maccabi\u2019s locker room following the 81 \u2013 93 loss to CSKA Moscow. Players and coach summed up the game <\/span>afterwards<\/span>.<\/p>\n

\tCoach Ainars Bagatskis: “We started slow and CSKA is a smart, experienced team to use that. We made some good changes, strengthened our defense and got into a good offensive rhythm in the 2nd quarter. There were parts of the game we played really good, but you can’t win with such a weakness in defensive rebounding and the many missed free throws hurt us too.<\/p>\n

\tWe’re on a short rotation and tired from our third game this week. But we fought and stayed in the game. We passed many assists, the ball moved well – we already saw that in the Israeli state cup final. When we play together and support each other – good things happen.<\/p>\n

\tSylvan came off the bench and gave us energy and points which\u00a0<\/span>was<\/span> critical without Goudelock, I’m also very happy for Itay Segev. He’s growing into a pro and a real man. He brings passion and energy to the floor. On defense, he can guard all positions and he flows well on offense. I hope Miller and Alexander come back soon and help us under the baskets because right now it’s only Segev and Iverson and that’s hard”.<\/p>\n

\tItay Segev, who set career highs of 10 points and 4 rebounds in his first Euroleague action: “We were close most of the game but couldn’t get over the hump and take the lead. We’re\u00a0<\/span>disappointed <\/span>from<\/span> the final score but will try to take the positives ahead of a week with two home games. Personally, <\/span>I’m happy to contribute in the Euroleague and against a team like CSKA. I’m steadily finding my rhythm\u201d.<\/p>\n

\tVictor Rudd, who was doubtful for the game, eventually started and scored 14 points with 5 rebounds: \u201cWe expected a tough battle and that\u2019s what we got. It\u2019s not easy playing here against CSKA who are a great team. We played well most of the game but it wasn\u2019t enough, unfortunately. They really hurt us with their offensive rebounds. They had possessions with 4-5 attempts and in that\u00a0<\/span>situation<\/span>, it\u2019s almost impossible to win\u201d<\/span><\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
