\tDespite having no chance to advance to the Euroleague playoffs and playing on the road against Fenerbahce, one of the best teams in the Euroleague, Maccabi FOX Tel Aviv beat the Turkish team 81 \u2013 79 with a buzzer-beater shot by Sylvan Landesberg that bounced 3 times on the rim before falling in. The referees went to the monitors and confirmed the shot was made on time. Maccabi came back from a 13 point deficit early in the 2nd quarter with strong games by Landesberg who scored 22 points, Daimon Simpson had 14 points, 12 rebounds and 5 steals (player rating of 26), Joe Alexander had 13, Yogev Ohayon and Victor Rudd each scored 10 points.<\/p>\n

\t“I felt good the whole game\u201d, said Landesberg, \u201cand the players kept telling me to stay aggressive. On the last possession, Yogi got the rebound and when I got the ball, I knew<\/span>i<\/span> won’t have time to pass. I stepped back, took the shot and it bounced on the rim, felt like for an hour. In the second <\/span>bounce<\/span> <\/span>i<\/span> thought it would bounce out. I was praying it would go in because I was dead tired and didn’t want it to go to overtime. Then when it went in I was in shock. I couldn’t believe it”.<\/p>\n

\tCoach Ainars Bagatskis: “We are very happy. I told the players to not hesitate, just go, and that’s what we did. We showed great teamwork against one of the best teams in the Euroleague despite missing some key players. When we played with patience and discipline – we stopped them. Sylvan’s shot at the end maybe was lucky, but he’s an experienced player who knows how to use that situation to his advantage\u201d.<\/p>\n

\tDaimon Simpson: \u201cWe worked hard in practice and kept believing when we were down. Personally,<\/span>i<\/span> just play as hard as <\/span>i<\/span> can and don’t think about how good the other guys are. Maybe before the <\/span>game<\/span> I\u2019d take notice that Vesely, Udoh or Antic are NBA players but never on the court. In Sylvan’s last shot, on the first <\/span>bounce<\/span> I was thinking – overtime.
