With Maccabi, Doron made a name for himself as one of best defensive players in the EuroLeague. Perkins alongside Pargo and Eidson formed arguably the deadliest offensive trio of that year in Europe&#8217;s top tier competition.<\/span><\/p>\n<p> \t\t<span style=\"font-size: 14px;\">&#8220;I still remember my first game at home with all the fans, I think it was against Ljubljana&#8221;, <strong>Doron Perkins<\/strong> reminisced in a special interview for his 36th Birthday. He wore the uniform of Maccabi for two years during which he won one domestic championship, two Israeli Cups and he was also named DPOY (defensive player of the year) twice. Today he lives in Las Vegas, he coaches and he&#8217;s in charge of players&#8217; development.&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/span><\/p>\n<p> \t\t<span style=\"font-size: 14px;\">&#8220;Up until last year, I played in a few countries and then I decided to start coaching&#8221;, said Doron Perkins to Maccabi&#8217;s official website. &#8220;I coached the Long Island Nets in the G-League, we made it to the championship game but we lost the finals. I was the assistant coach and was in charge of players&#8217; development. Thanks to the coaches there I learned a lot, they taught me how to trim videos, to scout etc. I hope that I found my next calling, I was always a player that wants to make his teammates better and I hope that I can do that as a coach&#8221;.&nbsp; &nbsp;&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p> \t\t<\/span><\/p>\n<p> \t\t<strong><span style=\"font-size: 14px;\">The trio of Perkins, Pargo and Eidson was amazing, one of the best that Maccabi ever had, what made it special?&nbsp;<\/span><\/strong><\/div>\n<div> \t\t<span style=\"font-size:14px;\">&#8220;First of all, it&#8217;s because the three of us are very unselfish, we love to have the ball but we figured out how to contribute and pass the ball. We had a lot of fun and we had great chemistry&#8221;.&nbsp;<\/span><\/p>\n<p> \t\t<strong><span style=\"font-size: 14px;\">Pargo still plays in Maccabi, what makes him special as a player?&nbsp;<\/span><\/strong><\/div>\n<div> \t\t<span style=\"font-size:14px;\">&#8220;He&#8217;s an athlete, he knows the game and he lives the game. He&#8217;s always one step ahead of everyone and when the shots are falling in he&#8217;s unstoppable. I&#8217;m still in touch with Alan Anderson, we train together in Vegas, and also with D&#8217;or Fischer, who&#8217;s from Vegas and I understand he&#8217;s in Israel right now&#8221;.&nbsp;<\/span><\/p>\n<p> \t\t<strong><span style=\"font-size: 14px;\">If you hadn&#8217;t gotten hurt do you think that Maccabi could go all the way in the EuroLeague?<\/span><\/strong><\/div>\n<div> \t\t<span style=\"font-size:14px;\">&#8220;It&#8217;s hard to tell. We were a team that was very hard to beat, but in the final four it&#8217;s very hard to tell if we would have won. As for the injury, it was a learning experience, a life changing experience. Before I came to Maccabi, no one heard of me and I made a name for myself in Maccabi, so I got to be back in the position that I know, the underdog position. After that I started climbing again, learned to take care of my body, mainly it was hard mentally not physically. The physical aspect is easy it&#8217;s just hard work and I&#8217;m okay with that&#8221;.&nbsp;<\/span><\/p>\n<p> \t\t<strong><span style=\"font-size: 14px;\">What do you miss the most about Israel?<\/span><\/strong><\/div>\n<div> \t\t<span style=\"font-size:14px;\">&#8220;I just miss playing basketball, even when I was in Haifa and played against Maccabi it was exciting. Maccabi treated my family so nicely, like family of their own and I will never forget that. I think they knew more people and had more friends in Israel than I did and I will always remember that.
