\tMaccabi FOX Tel Aviv is pleased to announce the signing of Ioannis Sfairopoulos for another 3 years. The 52-year-old coach, who joined during the 2018\/19 season, signed the contract in the locker room of Shlomo Group arena immediately after the 91:84 win in the derby and will continue to lead the Yellows’ coaching staff.<\/span><\/p>\n

\t“I am very happy to extend the collaboration with a such a big historical club such as Maccabi Tel Aviv”, said coach Giannis Sfairopoulos<\/strong> after signing the extension, adding: “I would like to thank the owners of Maccabi FOX Tel Aviv for trusting me and giving me the chance to continue to fight for the club’s glory”.<\/span><\/p>\n

\t“I would also like to thank the team players, all my colleagues, the management, the coaches, doctors, physios and the office staff – they all work hard and together we try to bring wins and titles for Maccabi”, the coach continued and emphasized: “I am very proud that I will continue to be part of the Maccabi family and I am very excited that together with our great fans we will continue to write big history for Maccabi FOX Tel Aviv”.<\/span><\/p>\n

\t“I think that signing coach Sfairopoulos on a long term deal fits our strategy”, said sports director Nikola Vujcic<\/strong>. “It shows that Giannis shares 100% the Maccabi DNA basketball-wise and personality-wise. His connection with the essence of the club, the fans and the maccabi moto – we always believe and never give up – is Absolut. I’m happy today and I know that our fans are happy too and this is very important for all of us. Yalla maccabi”.<\/span><\/p>\n

\tGiannis Sfairopoulos joined Maccabi on November 18th 2018 and has revolutionized the coaching staff, team functioning and the connection with Maccabi’s huge fan base. He brought back  the Yellows to the EuroLeague playoff race after a tough start (1:8) and led the Maccabi to winning the championship with an impressive 13:0 run in the league to the end of the season.<\/span><\/p>\n

\tDuring the summer, Sfairopoulos took over strengthening and adjusting the roster to the defensive and tough style of play he dictates, allowing the team to start with a perfect home balance (11:0) in the league and Euroleague and impressive double-digit victories over all rivales, including Fenerbahce, Olympiacos, Vitoria and CSKA Moscow.<\/span><\/p>\n
