Maccabi Playtika Tel Aviv finally returns to the Israeli Winner League competition after a month, hosting Gilboa/Galil in Menora Mivtachim Arena, completing Saturday's postponed game (Friday, 13:30, Live on 5LIVE - Channel 58).
The Israeli champions will play their first Israeli League since the last night of 2020, which they concluded with a convincing 101:80 win over Hapoel Jerusalem. Maccabi sits in the first position, holding a 6:1 record as they face Gilboa/Galil who made a coaching change during the lockdown. Avishai Gordon replaced Lior Lubin, who joined Oded Katash as his assistant coach at Panathinaikos. The Northern squad showed a lot of promise early on this season, winning 7 of their first 10 games.
Last season the Yellow & Blue swept the season series against the Reds as both sides met in the Final Four Semi-Finals. As you may recall, a clutch three-pointer by Scottie Wilbekin granted Maccabi an 81:78 victory securing a ticket to the Finals, which concluded with the team's 54th Israeli League championship title.
