Maccabi Playtika Tel Aviv will host Hapoel Jerusalem on Thursday evening in Menora Mivtachim Arena as part of the 11th Israeli Winner League fixture (21:00, Live on Sport5 - Channel 55). The Yellow & Blue return to the domestic competition for the first time since winning its 8th Winner Cup title, while Oded Katash and his players come into the contest after suffering their first loss this season - 88:92 to Nes Ziona.
"Tomorrow, we face a very good team in the Israeli League, and we always have a good basketball game against them", Said head coach Giannis Sfairopoulos towards the matchup. "For us, it's really important to forget the last game and do a quick turnaround. We need to concentrate on the game, focus on what we have to do on the court, and bring our full energy tomorrow to follow our gameplan".
After sustaining a cut underneath his eye, Othello Hunter will sit out on Thursday and not be available for Sfairopoulos's staff as Tyler Dorsey and Chris Jones will join him on the sidelines. Sandy Cohen will also miss the matchup against Jerusalem after receiving a short vacation to visit his son in the United States. The roster will include Elijah Bryant, Scottie Wilbekin, Angelo Caloiaro, Omri Casspi, John DiBartolomeo, Oz Blayzer, Dragan Bender, Dori Sahar, Ante Zizic, Eidan Alber, Yonatan Atias, and Yovel Zoosman.
The contest will matchup Maccabi, who holds a perfect domestic league record at (2:0) against a Jerusalem unit who've won all of their away games this season (3:0). The overall head to head record between the two sides sits at 100:25 in favor of the Yellow & Blue as last season, Sfairopoulos's squad won three of four versus Katash's team.
