After concluding the EuroLeague season on Friday night, Maccabi Playtika Tel Aviv's focus shifts to the Israeli Winner League as they head out on the road to face Hapoel Jerusalem in the Pais Arena (Monday, 21:15, Live on Sport5 - Channel 55). As may be recalled, the Yellow & Blue enter the matchup with 17 wins compared to 3 losses, winning their last four domestic games.
Omri Casspi, Yovel Zoosman, Chris Jones, Angelo Caloiaro and Dragan Bender were not included in the roster for the game.
"The games against Jerusalem are always vital for us", Said head coach Giannis Sfairopoulos before the last preparations. "They come into the matchup with a new coach, and they will try to react. We have to play with concentration, follow the game strategy and do our jobs as best as we can to obtain the victory".
In the earlier matchup this season, Giannis Sfairopoulos's squad dominated Hapoel Jerusalem 101:80 in Menora Mivtachim Arena. Scottie Wilbekin erupted for 29 points (tying a club record 8 three-pointers), Ante Zizic commanded the paint with 21 points, 10 rebounds, and Elijah Bryant contributed 17 points.
Since then, the Reds parted ways with Oded Katash, who moved to Panathinaikos and replaced him with Dainius Adomaitis. However, that marriage didn't last long as the Lithuanian head coach was relieved from his duties after last week's 31 point loss to Maccabi Rishon Le'Zion. During the weekend, Jonathan Alon was promoted to interim head coach and will try to help Jerusalem get out of the slump, which lowered them to fifth place, holding a 13:8 record.
