Maccabi Elite Tel Aviv opened the 2003/04 Premier League season with a 97-68 win over Hapoel Galil-Golan in front of 3,500 spectators in the Nokia Arena.
After observing a minute of silence in memory of the late Kevin Magee, the visitors took the initiative. Buy by the end of the forst quarter Maccabi led 26-23. Led by Sarunas Jasikevicius, Maccabi won the second period 28-13 and at the half held a 54-36 lead.
The Galil players closed the margin to 73-61 at the end of the third but a 14-0 runs at the start of the final period, assured Maccabi a convincing win.
