Maccabi Playtika Tel Aviv will face Hapoel Jerusalem away on Saturday night (20:20 local, 1:20 pm ET), as part of round 13 in Winner's league. The yellows defeated the opponent from the capital twice this season and will hope to record a third victory.
Giannis Sfairopoulos left Jalen Reynolds, James Nunnally, and Kameron Taylor out of the roster. The twelve players on the squad will be Scottie Wilbekin, Keenan Evans, Ido Menchel, Angelo Caloiaro, Derrick Williams, Roman Sorkin, Oded Brandwein, John DiBartolomeo, Oz Blayzer, Jake Cohen, Ante Zizic and Yiftach Ziv.
Both teams arrive at the game with opposite momentums. Jerusalem has won all of its last six games in all competitions, the last of which was a 73:69 victory over Maccabi Rishon Lezion, while Maccabi carries 8 Euroleague losses in a row.
130 meetings have been held between Maccabi and Jerusalem in the league's regular season. The Yellows won on 104 occasions, and the Reds celebrated 26 times.
Maccabi beats Jerusalem in a thriller
The Yellows secured a third win this season over their big rivals, 83:78 away. Derrick Williams led the visitors' scorers with 17 points
In the midst of the tough and challenging period, Maccabi Playtika Tel-Aviv finally showed the first signs of recuperating. The yellows faced Hapoel Jerusalem, survived a super tight game, and got an 83:78 win in the capital.
It was Maccabi's third win over the Reds this season and one that was secured after some nerve-wracking moments. The lead changed hands many times to set a thrilling fourth quarter.
Jalen Reynolds, James Nunnally, and Kameron Taylor were left out of the roster, but their absence was less significant in an evening where Derrick Williams (17 points) and John DiBartolomeo (14 points) carried Maccabi. Jake Cohen deserves praises, too, as he sealed the win with crucial free throws he made.
Maccabi will not have too much time to rest. On Monday, the Israeli champs will face Bney Herzeliya away, and three days later, meet Baskonia Vitoria at Menora Mivtachim Arena.
