Maccabi to face Kiryat Ata in cup semis
Maccabi Playtika Tel Aviv will square off against Ironi Kiryat Ata on Friday (2 PM Israel time, 7 AM ET) in the Israeli cup semi-finals. Coming off of their EuroLeague exit after a tough and grueling playoffs series, the yellows will attempt to make a quick turnaround and take a step toward the important trophy.

The Maccabees are counting three consecutive losses, but know that these say nothing about their current shape. Wade Baldwin IV is expected to miss the game with his hamstring injury.

Oded Kattash and his men will try to return to the finals, where they lost last season. Maccabi comfortably passed Maccabi Ramat Gan in the quarter-finals to the tune of a 104-72 victory, and are only two wins away from redemption.

Kiryat Ata are currently seating at sixth place in the Israeli league rankings, suffering from a bad stretch that saw them lose 7 out of the team's last previous league games. The team's leading scorer, guard James Batemon, missed the game against Hapoel Jerusalem earlier in the week with an injury and his availabilty is unclear.

Maccabi Playtika Tel Aviv stormed into the Israeli cup finals on Friday by comfortably beating Ironi Kiryat Ata 102-67 in Menora Arena. The yellows will face Hapoel Jerusalem in the title game in a rematch of last year's finals, with Maccabi looking to reclaim the trophy.

Just three days after bowing out of the EuroLeague, Oded Kattash's men needed a quarter to regain their focus and rhythm. Kiryat Ata led 27-18 after the first ten minutes, but then things changed.

Led By Bonzie Colson (14 points) and Jasiel Rivero (8), the Israeli champs took over the game and led by 10 points by the halftime break. The northeners only scored 40 points in the final three quarters, and a long garbage time period was inevitable.

Roman Sorkin was Maccabi's leading scorer with 17 points, with Joe Thomasson (12), John DiBartolomeo (10) and Tamir Blatt (10) also reaching double figures.
