Maccabi Playtika Tel Aviv are on to the finals. The reigning champions will have a chance to defend their crown after completing a second sweep in these playoffs, this time 2-0 over Hapoel Jerusalem. The yellows beat the red 82-73 on the road Friday to secure their spot in the champhionship round.
It was a wire to wire victory for Maccabi, who led by as many as 18 points in the first half powered by a stellar defensive performance. A comeback attempt by Jerusalem after the break was met by big-time plays by Roman Sorkin, who earned MVP honors with 20 points and 13 boards.
Bonzie Colson was also pivotal in the win, scoring 15 points and grabbing 8 rebounds, while Lorenzo Brown chipped in 14 points of his own. Jasiel Rivero added 11. The yellows achieved this without injured Josh Nebo, who joined Wade Baldwin IV on the sidelines.
The win means Maccabi are still unbeaten in this year's playoffs, and also completed a league sweep over the team from the capital. Now Oded Kattash and his gang will wait to learn who their opponents will be, Hapoel Tel Aviv or Kiryat Ata. Either way, game 1 of the finals will be in Yad Eliyahu on Thursday.
