Maccabi Elite Tel Aviv completed the regular season of the Euroleague with a 76-71 home win over Zalgiris Kaunas. This win assured Maccaci the fifth place in group B on the way to the “Top 16”.
A brilliant defensive display in the first quarter kept the Lithuanians on 12 pts to Maccabi’s 22. At half time David Blatt’s boys led 41-36 and after the third quarter 58-52.
Quincy Lewis played his best game in Maccabi colours with 25 pts in 53% FG and 88% in FT. He also had 3 rbds, 2 blocks and 2 stls. Doron Sheffer scored his first pts in the Euroleague and his calmness and efficiency, were a major factor in Maccabi’s win.
Montepaaschi Siena needed a home win vs Buducnost to qualify to the "Top 16" as the best placed 6th team. In a one sided game the led 61-24 at the half and won 112-59.
In the Spanish derby TAU Vitoria beat Inicaja Malaga 79-63 and finished in second place in Group B behind Panathinaikos, who beat Olimpija Ljubljana 65-63 without the injured Arriel McDonald.
Joseph Blair from Ulker was ranked first in the Regular Season MVP with an average of 25 valuation pts.
