Maccabi Elite Tel Aviv completed this evening the first round of the regular season of the Premier League with a 99-74 home win over Elitsur Eldan Ashkelon. The surprise team of the first round, were behind right from the start.
Against a small & fast team, coach Pini Gershon had to adapt the right kind of game. The only weakness in the Maccabi team was the 23 turnovers which were exploited by the visitors to go on fast breaks.
Maccabi led 27-19 at the end of the first quarter, 55-35 at half time & 78-59 at the end of the third. Maccabi players were 59% in FG (Ashkelon 47%), pulled down 39 rbds (to 26) and dushed out 24 assists (to 13).
MVP for the game was Tal Burstein with 15 pts in 75% FG, 7 rbds & 5 assists.
