With two seconds to go Tal Burrstein failed to control an offensive rebound and so Maccabi Elite Tel Aviv did not manage to achieve one of those dramatic wins which they registerd last season Maccabi lost for the third time in the Euroleague this season, 95-97 in Pesaro vs Scavolini, but remains on top of Group B.
At half time scores were even (47-47). But a 18-4 run at the start of the third period, gave the home team a 14 pts lead (65-51). Three minutes from the end of the period Maccabi's best player, Maceo Baston, fouled out and Scavolini started the final period 75-66 up.
Three pointers by Vujcic & Sharp brought Maccabi to 78-80. six minutes from time. But a series of turnovers enabled the hosts to lead 85-78. Two great three pointers by Saras (only 4-11 in triplets), made it 88-88. But with one minute to go, Pesaro led 93-88.
With 15 seconds to go the lead was 96-93. Saras & Sccony Penn missed one each from the line 97-94. Tal Burstein went to the line with 3.7 seconds remaining, made the first one and intentionally missed the second. Burstein failed to control the rebound and Scavolini saved its lost hobour from the game in Tel Aviv. The 97 points made by the home team were 19 above their Euroleague average.
Best player on court was Scavolini's Charles Smith with 32 pts (7-13 for three), 6 ass & 6 stls which made him Euroleague's MVP of the week. The top Maccabi player was Maceo Baston who played only 23 minutes, scored 17 pts, pulled down 9 rbds and made 3 atls & 1 blocked shot.
