Maccabi Elite Tel Aviv tonight made a giant step towards the Euroleague Final Four in Moscow, with a 88-60 win over Scavolini Pesaro. Another win on Thursday in Italy, will assure Maccabi the ticket to Moscow.
Maccabi made sure of the victory in the first quarter when its incredible defense allowed the visitors only 10 points while the Yellows scored 26, with 14 for Saras who made 4-4 from three pointers. Maccabi defense completely eliminated Scavolini's major scorers Charles Smith & Scoonie Penn. At half time Maccabi held a 23 pts lead (51-28).
The second half was garbage time and so coach Pini Gershon was able to rest his leading players and use all 12 players. Gur Shelef continued his good form whilst Yotan Halperin & Nestoras Kommatos put up an excellent performance.
Maccabi made 56% in three pointers to Pesaro's 25%. The home team dominated the rebound 44-30 and dished out 20 assists with only 7 to Scavolini.
Saras was elected MVP with 18 pts in 86% FG & 4 assist.
