Maccabi Elite Tel Aviv can now prepare the Monday game in Jerusalem with no pressure after their convincing win this evening in Gdansk, 81-59. Thus Maccabi completed its first double of the season (a 27 pts win in the game in Tel Aviv) although this game was not too impressive.
The Poles led 16-8 before Maccbai ran 11-0 to make it 19-16 at the end of the first quarter. The Euroleague Champions increased their lead to 32-20 and then got stuck and enabled the home team to go on a 12-2 run and at half time Maccabi`s lead was only 2 pts (34-32).
Maccabi took an 8 pts lead into the final period but then exploded once more and with three minutes to go had a 26 pts lead (77-51) eventually winning by 22 pts.
Anthony Parker looked once again like the Euroleague MVP of last season with a perfect game – 19 pts in 100% FG & FT, 7 rbds, 2 assts & plenty of leadership.
Will Solomon is settling down well with Maccabi and tonight he scored 17 pts in 60% Fg, 3 rbds, 2 asts & 2 steals. Maceo Baston pulled down 13 rbds & scored 11 pts in 71% FG.
