Coach Pini Gershon promised to go deep into his bench. This evening he did just that and they delivered by scoring 67 pts in the 98-68 win over Bnei Hasharon.
Anthony Parker was left out so that he could be in hospital with his wife who gave birth to their second son. None of the starters played more than 26 minutes which did not prevent Maccabi to dominate the game.
Sharon Shason made his first start for the team which took a 14-2 lead. At the end of the opening quarter the lead was 22-13. Bnei Hasharon came back to 29-26 but a 15-3 ran ended the first half with Maccabi 44-49 up.
Kirk Penney was brought in in the second period and made his mark immediately. In the third quarter we got teenager Omri Casspi who played 15 minutes and even Regv Fanan pl;ayed the final 8 minutes. At the end of the third Maccabi led 78-47 and the biggest lead was 85-50.
Maccabi players made 65% of their field goals and 68% in three pointers (13-19). They also made 24 assists (Shason 6) & pulled down 39 rbds.
An incredible shooting night for Derrick Sharp with 22 pts (7-9 for three). Kirk Penney played 26:30 minutes and scored 17 pts (8-9 in FT). Shason scored 14 pts (4-5 for three).
