The loss in Piraeus last Thursday was explained by the strength of the Olympiakos defense that held Maccabi on 70 pts. With all respect to Bnei Hasharon, they can not be compared with the Greek team. But once again Maccabi failed to go past the 70 points mark.
Maccabi played without Maceo Baston and Tal Burstein missed a good part of the game due to another injury. But this can not explain the dull performance, the 15 TO, only 10 assists & 61% from the free throw line.
Maccbai had a good start and led 10-1 with 7 pts by Arnold and a three pointer by Anthony Parker. Then Bnei Hahsaron went on a 11-0 run and at the end of the first quarter Maccabi led 17-15. Maccabi opened the second period with a 15-4 run (32-19). But at half time the lead was only 38-30.
The home team got on equal terms (51-51) before Will Solomon connected with a three pointer and at the end of the third period Maccabi held 54-51 lead.
With 5 minutes to go Bneoi Hashron took a 66-65 lead and increased it to
70-67. Solomon made another three pointer to tie the score 70-70. In the next play the hosts managed 3 offensive rebounds and Osman Cisse made it 72-70. Terrence Rencher added one more opoin from the line. Nikola Vujcic tried an impossible three, missed and Guy Pnini ran the court and dunked the ball for a final score of 75-70.
Solomon was Maccabi`s leading player with 20 pts (4-5 for three), 3 asts, 2 stls & 2 rbds.
Other Maccabi scorers: Parker 12 pts, 6 rbds, Arnold 11 pts & 5 rbds, Vujcic 11 pts & 5 rbds, Burstein 6 pts & 9 rbds, Shason 5, Sharp 3, Green 2 pts.
