Seventy two hours after the great performance in Jerusalem, Maccabi Elite Tel Aviv had to make another great effort before winning their first National Cup quarter final leg in Rishon Letsion 98-92.
Maccabi had a 27-22 lead at the end of the first quarter, increased it top 44-36 but at half had only a one point lead 47-46. Nikola Vujcic, who suffered an injury, did not trtuatn for the second half.
The home team took a 63-60 lead in the third period, Maccabi came back and at the end of the period had a 73-70 lead.
Will Solomon (6-10 for three) was the dominant player of the final quarter and led the team to 82-75 and 94-85. Guy Goodes team refused to give up but could only close the margin to six points.
Another huge game for Anthony Parker who played 40 minutes, scored 26 pts in 62%FG, pulled down 12 rbds, and made 4 ass & 2 stls to accumulate an index rating of 42. Solomon added 25 pts in 56%FG. Tal Burstein scored all his 16 pts (4-6 for three) in the first half and added 6 ass & 5 rbds.
