Sarunas Jasikevicius returned to the NOKIA Arena but saw his ex team mates on one of their less convincing games of the season. This did not prevent them from beating Ironi Eldan Ashkelon 74-61.
After 16-16 at the end of the first quarter, the visitors, without the injured Brandon Kurz, took a 27-22 lead. But Maccabi came back and at half time led 31-29. Anthony Parker, who injured a finger towards the end of the first period, stayed on the bench for the rest of the game.
Maccabi won the third period 21-14 and led 52-43 at the end of the quarter. Led by the excellent Jamie Arnold, Maccabi opened a 19 pts lead (71-52). The final score 74-61.
Both teams had a poor shooting night: 48% FG for Maccabi, 32% for Ashkelon. In free throws it was even worth: Maccabi 58%, Ashkelon 60%. Maccabi led 42-34 in rebounds. The Yellows made 17 assists, 10 by Tal Burstein who was scoreless in 31 minutes play. On the hand Maccabi had 17 turnovers.
Another impressive outing for Jamie Arnold with 20 pts in 70% FG and 86% FT, 6 rbds & 2 bsts.
