Maccabi Fox Tel Aviv opened the season with a win against Nahariya in overtime (97:96) and last noght, history prove to repeat itself in almost exact fashion – Maccabi again needed 5 extra minutes to put away Nahariya, this time 99:93.
The major difference in regards to the last time these two teams met is that Macaabi didn’t need a major comeback to win. The game was close throughout its entirety, with the stubborn visitors grabbing a 6 point lead before Guy Pnini (14 points) and Sylven Landsberg (11 points) hit from outside and put Maccabi back in a position to win.
“We should have closed it out way earlier”, said Gal Mekel, whos scored 15 and added 5 assists, “we need to work on our chemistry as a team. Of course tactics are important, but there needs to be a different energy level. We should be happy to come here and play together. I need we’re kind of lacking that lately”.
Andrew Goudelock led all scorers with 22 points, Sonny Weems had 13 points, 8 assists and 6 rebounds, Colton Iverson got 13 as well, coupled with 14 rebounds. Maccabi hosts Gilboa on Monday, in the round of 16 of the state cup before heading to Serbia to play Red Star Belgrade on Thursday.
