Maccabi Fox Tel Aviv failed to hang on to the winner cup. A slow start led to a 62:77 loss against Hapoel Jerusalem. It was Erez Edelstein's offense who failed to get any rythem going, despite a strong performence by Sonny Weems (16 points, 7 rebounds). Maccabi scored less than 20 points on all quarters except the second.
Other than Weems, Maik Zirbes scored 13 with 7 rebounds and 5 steals, Victor Rudd got 10, Guy Pnini 7, Gal Mekel 6, Dagan Yivzory and Yogev Ohayon 3 each and DJ Seeley and Colton Iverson 2 each.
"We didn't play well. Jerusalem was better in every aspect of the game and deserved to win", said Coach Erez Edelstein, "We have problems and we'll work on solving them. I felt during the third quarter that we were playing with no control and basically working off of instinct. That's not how we want to play".
Guy Pnini added: "This wasn't our tempo. Jerusalem managed to slow us down and mess up our rhythm, especially in our half-court offense. We're worth more than 62 points, but this happens and we're only in October. We have a long season ahead of us".
