Maccabi FOX Tel Aviv faced Ironi Naharya for the 22nd round of the domestic league, the yellows wanted to finish the second round on a high note and on top of the standings. The crew in yellow and blow took the early lead, the visitors managed to complete a mini comeback but a resolute Maccabi reacted fast and hard to retake their lead. The hosts controlled the game and they unleashed an offensive knockout in the fourth quarter outscoring Naharya 26:14 grabbing the 78:61 home win and the top spot in the standings.
Coach Sfairopoulos' starting five: Wilbekin, Zoosman, Kane, O'Bryant and Tyus. Zoosman and Tyus gave Maccabi the early 4:0 lead not allowing them to execute. Nesterenko and Griffin scored for the visitors to stay close to the squad in yellow and blue (10:9). Naharya managed to complete the comeback but it was short-lived as Maccabi reacted tenaciously to retake the lead (20:17). Ziv was the last to score in the first quarter keeping his team within a striking distance (20:19).
Roll converted a great defensive play into instant offense making it 22:19. The yellows found their offensive rhythm as they increased their lead to 28:22 as the second quarter was just about to reach its halfway mark. The yellow offense continued to fire on all cylinders enroute of 36:25 lead with just under two minutes remaining in the first half. John-Di made both of his free throws to put Maccabi ahead 39:27 but again the visitors were the last to score in the first half with the scoreboard showing 39:29.
Both teams traded blows in the first minutes of the third quarter with the hosts keeping theird ouble digit lead (46:35). Griffin's jumper sparked a 10:1 for the visitors trimming Maccabi's lead to 47:45. Tyus and Pargo completed a 5:0 run to make it 52:45 but Griffin made sure his team will enter the fourth quarter trailing by just five points (52:47).
All systems were go at the beginning of the fourth with Pargo and Tyus leading the yellow offense (56:49). Altit scored six points but Maccabi reacted time and again imposing their will with Tyus and Cohen (66:53). The yellow offense was unleashed and could not be denied not allowing Naharya to even think of a comeback as they secured the 78:61 home win.
