At 18:00: Maccabi Fox Tel Aviv faces Olimpia Milano
Maccabi Fox Tel Aviv will face Olimpia Milano this evening (18:00, Live on Sport5) in the finals of the "Pavlos Giannakopoulos" preseason tournament. After their 82:71 win over Panathinaikos, Quincy Acy and Omri Casspi that missed the game because of injuries, participated in the morning practice with John DiBartolomeo and Sandy Cohen who saw less action last night.

As for the opponent, Olimpia Armani Milano rallied back from an early deficit to beat Fenerbahce 79:75. Sergio Rodriguez, who joined the Italians this summer from CSKA Moscow, scored a game-high 26 points over the Turkish team. Shelvin Mack added 15 points for Milano under coach Ettore Messina, that decided to come back to Europe after five years as an assistant coach for the San Antonio Spurs.

Other than Rodriguez and Mack, you can find on the Italian's capital squad Ex Maccabi SF Michael Roll, SF Vladimir Micov, PG Riccardo Moraschini, PG Andrea Cinciarini, PG Nemanja Nedovic, PG Amedeo Della Valle, PF Aaron White, PF Jeff Brooks, PF Cristian Burns, C Kaleb Tarczewski, C Paul Biligha and C Arturas Gudaitis that is recovering from a torn ACL.

"We need time to play all together." said coach Giannis Sfairopoulos after the win over Panathinaikos. "We indeed won this game but what's important now is to build our game, learn each other, and play together".

Tyler Dorsey, who finished as the top scorer for Maccabi with 18 points, described playing in Athens for the first time: "I'm used to playing in tough environments, I like it because it brings a competitive spirit out of me. Our first two EuroLeague games are on the road, so it's great to get used to that."

After the game, Maccabi will take part in the closing ceremony as they will fly back to Israel tomorrow (Monday). On Tuesday they will face Hapoel Tel Aviv in the Winner Cup quarter-finals at the Drive-In Arena.

Maccabi Fox Tel Aviv ended their preseason games in Europe with a 69:78 lose to Milano in the finals of the "Pavlos Giannakopoulos" preseason tournament. The Yellow & Blue led at the start of the fourth quarter, but the Italians took control in the final minutes and ran away with the victory. Scottie Wilbekin scored 17 points and Nate Walters added 11 of his own with 4 assists to lead the Israel champions.

After the game, Maccabi took part in the closing ceremony as they will fly back to Israel tomorrow (Monday). On Tuesday they will face Hapoel Tel Aviv in the Winner Cup quarter-finals at the Drive-In Arena.  

Scored for Maccabi: Scottie Wilbekin 17 points, Nate Wolters 11 points, 5 rebounds & 4 assists, Elijah Bryant, Tyler Dorsey, Tarik Black and Othello Hunter each scored 7 points, Jake Cohen 5 points, Deni Avdija (5 rebounds), Yovel Zoosman (4 rebounds) 3 points each, John DiBartolomeo 2 points. Sandy Cohen played but didn't score. Scored For Milano: Vladimir Micov 18 points, Sergio Rodriguez 15 points, Jeff Brooks 11 points.



With Quincy Acy and Omri Casspi out again due to injury, Coach Sfairopolos opened the game with the same starting five as he did against Panathinaikos - Black at center, Deni Avdija and Jake Cohen at forward and guards Scottie Wilbekin and Nate Wolters. 
Maccabi began the game with five straight points to go up 5:0, but Sergio Rodriguez turned the score around and led the Italians to an 11 point advantage. The Spanish citizen finished the quarter with 9 points giving Milano a 22:15 lead after one quarter.

Vladimir Micov and Shelvin Mack opened the second quarter with two straight buckets for Milano to increase their advantage. Wilbekin with a three-pointer and Jake Cohen with an easy bucket narrowed down the reds lead to 4, 29:25. The Yellow & Blue moved in front just before half time when Othello Hunter drew a foul and scored to give Maccabi a 39:38 edge.

Maccabi continued with the same momentum from the end of the second quarter, Scottie Wilbekin with four straight points and a Nate Walters three increased Maccabi's lead to 9. The Italians with a run of their own cut the Yellows lead down to 2, 59:57, going into the final quarter.

Amedeo Della Valle with another three-pointer, continued his great game to give Ettore Messina's team a 63:59 lead. With a 6 point advantage for the Italians, Wilbekin hit a big shot from outside to keep the game tight. Four minutes to the final whistle, Micov with a three increased their advantage 73:65. Maccabi cut the lead by half 73:69, but Milano was able to hold their lead to beat Maccabi 78:69 to win the "Pavlos Giannakopoulos" preseason tournament.
