The management of Europe’s largest basketball organization has announced that during all Top 16 games this week, it will donate one euro to UNICEF for every fan in attendance at the games.

Maccabi Electra Tel Aviv, who generally has 11,000 fans in attendance at home games (the highest attendance in the Euroleague), will be playing against Siena in Italy on Thursday.
Maccabi team captain Derrick Sharp said, “We are all far away from the tragedy in Haiti, but we can help just the same.
We are calling on Euroleague players and fans to look into their hearts and contribute today.”

Terrell McIntyre of Montepaschi Siena added, “Everyone who has seen the tragedy of the earthquake in Haiti wants to help, and that includes all of us Euroleague players.
And I am sure the fans will join us.”
Pablo Prigioni, the point guard for Real Madrid which will also play against Maccabi in the Top 16, said, “If anyone knows about devotion, it’s Euroleague players and fans.
We are asking them to show their devotion by contributing to the Haitian humanitarian relief effort.”
