Hapoel led 22-16 at the end of the first quarter and increased it to 30-18. But then Vujcic & Saras took over and swept Maccabi to their first lead 41-40 and at half time 46-45 for Maccabi.
The third period will go into history as the worst ever for the Yellows. Hapoel ran 21-0 and Maccabi made its first point after five minutes and 13 seconds. 30-6 for Hapoel in the third and no field goals for Pini Gershon’s team.
The final quarter was garbage time and finally a 25 pts win for Erez Edelstein’s team and a first win for the Reds in nine years.
