Jerusalem no contest to Maccabi
Maccabi Tel Aviv opened the super league season with an easy 90-73 win over Haopel Jerusalem. Jasaitis scored 19
The game started with no real effort on defense on both ends of the floor and Maccabi took a 10-4 lead after 90 seconds, after Jasaitis and Halperin bombed behind the arc. On the other side Mario Austin carried Hapoel until Dan Shamir took a timeout to stop the Yellow run. Hapoel came back to 15-10 after Golemac connected from the line, but Maccabi took off after Arnold started to warm up his hand and carry his team to a 32-19 lead after 10 minutes. After 15 minutes and 13 points Jasaitis took a rest on the bench, and was replaced by Shason. Arnold dominated the paint and reached 10 points, that were combined with a three pointer by Shason and Maccabi took a 50-31 lead, with 4 minutes to play in the first half. Tapiro with 4 points made it just 55-38 at half time. Maccabi played great defene, led by Vujcic, and Hapoel stay far behind, 66-42 after 25 minutes. Erez Markovic collected some points to make it 72-55 with 10 minutes to play. Cota with a three pointer and 4 points in a row by Bowers made it just a 7 point game, 74-67 with 5:40 to play, and Maccabi was out of focus. Bynum with back to back steals and some points, in addition to a flagrant foul by Naor put Maccabi on top with a double digit lead again, 79-67. Another steal by Bynum sent Eliyahu to finish a fast break with a dunk, and Vujcic added another block and a basket with the shot clock going down. Bynum hit a three pointer with the buzzer to set the final score on 90-73.
