Maccabi FOX Tel Aviv wanted to continue their domestic momentum in the final game of the second round in the domestic league. Hapoel Tel Aviv took control over the game from the first quarter, an early fourth quarter comeback by the yellows was not enough. The yellows drop to a 16:6 record in the domestic standings.  

Coach Spahija’s starting five: John-Di, Roll, Kane, Bolden and Cohen. John-Di started the game scoring from distance, but the reds tied the game (5:5) shortly after. Hapoel took the lead after a three point shot by Menko; but John-Di, Roll, and Cohen gave Maccabi the 8:11 lead. Hapoel completed a 13:0 run to take the 21:11 lead, Cole scored from downtown but the reds had the final say in the first quarter having the 23:14 lead.

Roll and Cole led a poised Maccabi back into the game as two minutes into the second quarter the scoreboard showed 27:23 for the hosts. Hapoel capitalized on Coach Spahija’s technical foul as they increased their lead to 34:25, but Cole led the yellows to another run with the visitors trimming the hosts lead to 36:35. Both teams struggled to score but Hapoel managed to finish the second quarter ahead 44:39.

Both teams scored at the beginning of the third quarter as the reds kept their five point lead (43:38). Neither one of the teams managed to impose their will as the reds kept their lead (54:48) with the third quarter reaching its halfway mark. Kane and John-Di capitalized to bring the yellows closer to the hosts (58:55) with just under two minutes remaining in the third quarter. McKee and Cohen exchanged threes as Hapoel finishes the third quarter ahead 61:58.

The reds scored at the beginning of the fourth quarter but Maccabi tied the game after Tyus converted great defense into instant offense; Roll’s three gave the yellows the 63:66 lead. Howard completed the three point play to tie the game. Limonad gave Hapoel the 74:71 lead Banks increased it to 77:71. With just over two minutes remaining the reds were ahead 79:75, Roll brought the yellows within a striking distance (80:79) but McNeill completed the three point play to give his team the 83:79 lead, from which the yellows couldn’t recover as the hosts take the 85:80 win.
