On Friday: Maccabi visits Belgrade to face Partizan

The Yellows will clash with Zeljko Obradovic's team in the most packed arena in Europe. Roman Sorkin will be available to coach Kattash

Maccabi Playtika Tel Aviv held a final training session at Menorah Mivtachim Arena and flew to Serbia where the Yellows will meet Partizan Belgrade on Friday (9:30 pm Israel time, 2:30 pm EST). Roman Sorkin took part in the training and will be able to play after missing the last game due to an injury.

“Zeljko is a special coach and a special person, it’s very exciting to meet him,” said Oded Kattash about the Serbian legend, who coached him at Panathinaikos. “Partizan is a team that added many new players. They struggled at the beginning of the season, but are now starting to gain pace. We will have to be prepared defensively”.

“It’s very important for us to get back on the winning track”, added Lorenzo Brown who put on some great performances since his arrival to Maccabi this summer. “We worked on a few things this week and I’m sure all the pieces will connect in the end”.

Partizan edges Maccabi 96:88 in Belgrade

The Yellows dominated Zeljko Obradovic's team for three quarters but ended up with a third Euroleague loss in a row. Baldwin scored 23 points

For three quarters it seemed like Maccabi Playtika Tel Aviv was en route to a win in one of the toughest arenas in Europe, but a bad fourth quarter cost the Yellows heavily. Maccabi lost 88:96 to Partizan Belgrade away and dropped its Euroleague record to 4:4.

In front of nearly 20,000 ecstatic fans in Stark Arena, Oded Kattash’s players showed no fear and provided an excellent offensive game. Led by Wade Baldwin (23 points and 7 assists), the guests were in control for 30 minutes but failed to create a meaningful run that would grant them the win.

On Sunday, the Yellows will try to bounce back when they face Hapoel Tel Aviv in a much-expected city Derby.
